North Yarmouth Company Receives Award from U.S. Department of Labor

During a virtual ceremony on November 8, Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su announced the 2023 HIRE Vets Medallion Award recipients.

The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act (HIRE Vets Act) Medallion Program is the only federal award program that recognizes employers who successfully recruit, hire, and retain veterans.

Four Maine employers received the Gold Level Award: Deer Brook Consulting (North Yarmouth), Concorde Jet Center (Brunswick), Career Systems Development Corporation (Bangor), and the City of Westbrook.

According to a news release from the U.S. Department of Labor, awardees were selected for their “commitment to recruiting, hiring and retaining veterans as they help them develop meaningful, long-term careers,” said Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su.

In a press release, Deer Brook Consulting president Ande Smith stated, “It’s hard to express how very proud and honored we are to receive such an important recognition in support of our military veterans. As a service-disabled veteran-owned small business, no one understands better what veterans have given to ensure our way of life is protected. But we at Deer Brook believe that veterans’ best days are ahead of them as they contribute their accumulated skills, learning and wisdom to our customers and communities, which makes us so proud to have these great men and women a part of our team.”

Founded in 2013, Deer Brook Consulting is a certified Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business providing cyber security services to the small to medium organization space in New England as well as education technology implementation and management solutions.
